Who Say's You Can't Go Home

But if you do Bring a gift of a Doormat

Mom is always Keeping the house spic and span is perhaps one of the few laws which many households abide by. But often, when we go to Friend's house, we judge his or her lifestyle based on what it looks like on the inside and outside, and how spotless and organized it looks. Our Homes are places where we spend at least half of our lives. It is really important to always maintain the orderliness of houses, not only for the out side world, but also to prevent germs and bacteria to grow in dirty places.

One staple household object are doormats. Doormats have always been popular for its functional appeal in maintaining the cleanliness of the house's flooring. It is often flat, rectangular pieces, made of thick fiber, rubber, cedar or cloth. It is often placed by the doors inside and out, where we wipe our shoes and footwear clean before entering the home. Some doormats have designs in them, making it go with the rest of the furniture. Most doormats are also emblem with the words “WELCOME!” to create a hospitable atmosphere for visitors entering the house for the very first time.

The most common material in which doormats are made of are coir – thick, dried coconut fibers made from coconut husks which are interwoven to create the flat doormats. Coir doormats are perfect as outdoor doormats, because it is tough and able to withstand heat, water, snow or mud. Its rough and coarse texture makes it great for wiping feet or footwear clean of dirt. Some doormats, such as the ones are stenciled with design patterns such as flowers or beach scenes. These stencils are made from non-water-acrylic ink. The purpose of the designs is to counter to raw and natural properties which coir doormats have. Cleaning coir doormats are easy. Vacuuming, shaking or sweeping will allow excess dirt to fall off easily. Other coir doormats have vinyl or PVC backings, in order to create friction, make the doormats more durable, and ensure that the interwoven fibers are maintained. It is better to place coir doormats under roofed entrance ways, to prevent it from natural wear and tear. The drawback of coir doormats is when it gets wet or soaked in too much water. It will often take days before it dries out.
