Great Way to add Mystical Accent to Your Garden with Bamboo Fountains

A bamboo fountain can be a great way to add mystical accent to your garden. Bamboo fountains, an original creation of the Japanese, were made specifically as a way to keep deer away from rice paddies. It isn’t difficult to understand that they were called “deer chasers”.
In the past, monks would use the bamboo fountain as a method for timing their mediations. Today, more people are intrigued by the bamboo fountain because it is made of eco-friendly material. The bamboo fountain is also popular because of its charm and colloquial appeal. Another perk is that the bamboo fountain is flexible enough to use indoors as well as outside.
Constructing a bamboo fountain
Constructing a bamboo fountain is easy and takes just a smaller number of parts to build. You will need bamboo, tubing, a pump, a base, rod, screws, and container. For outdoor bamboo fountains, you should use higher quality bamboo that can withstand various weather conditions. When the bamboo fountain will be used inside, you may want to make it more attractive by polishing the surface. Other tools necessary to build your own bamboo fountain include a screwdriver, wood saw, and a drill machine.
The first step after you have all the parts for your bamboo fountain is to cut the bamboo sticks to required lengths. Three large bamboo sticks are needed. Two sticks will secure the moving portion of the fountain while the other will be connected to the nozzle. The moving part of the fountain is the essential element in your bamboo fountain because it is responsible for collecting the water and emptying it as the weight of the collected water increases. Moving on, you will have to drill a hole through the center of the two other bamboo sticks and the moving part. You need holes in these pieces because a rod will be inserted in them to make the fountain operate with pivot action.
The pipe will be ran through the middle of the bamboo stick to the pump. The very top of this pipe is tipped with a bamboo nozzle. Everything should then be secured onto a base. You know that the bamboo fountain is functioning when the water coming from the nozzle continues running to the moving part of the fountain.
If you’re kind of person who would rather it be mostly done for you, then you may prefer purchasing a bamboo fountain kit from your building supply store.
If you do get a bamboo fountain, you might like to know how to maintain one. Maintenance focuses on two areas. The first area is water pump care. You need to have the water pump below the surface of your retaining pool when running. It must be cleaned on a regular basis. You must replace the water in your fountain on a regular schedule. While you won’t have to change the water on a bamboo fountain that constantly operates, you still need to schedule a time so you’re not dealing with stinky water.
A Touch of Elegance: Outdoor Wall Fountains

Indoor and outdoor wall fountains add a touch of grace and elegance to any design. They are simple to hang and use and can also be found in solar powered designs so that they are environmentally friendly and not a draw on the power supply. Outdoor wall fountains must be maintained in the winter months in climates that get freezing weather so that the fountain is not damaged by the water freezing in the unit. However, other than monitoring the water level and adding to it occasionally, these outdoor wall fountains are easy to maintain and will last for years to come.
Designs
Outdoor wall fountains come in a variety of different styles and are manufactured out of different materials so that the proper one can be chosen to fit a landscape design. The typical materials for an outdoor wall fountain are wood, stone or copper, although plastics and other materials can also be found. Most of the time these fountains do not have to be hooked up to a water source, but instead circulate the water through the fountain over and over again. In addition, there are outdoor wall fountains of smaller types that will run on batteries rather than a power outlet so that there are not any cords hanging down from the fountain.
There are some outdoor wall fountains that can be found for around one hundred fifty dollars. These are usually the smaller fountains, but they come in a variety of different designs. One such fountain is shaped like a sun with a face on it. It is made out of a burnished bronze material and the water for the fountain comes out of the sun’s mouth and falls into the pool below. Another such fountain in the same price range utilizes some geometric shapes in its design. It is curved at the top into a half moon which has the shape of half a flower inside of it. Below is a square box that has a series of smaller squares inside of it until, at the center, a water spigot is placed from which the water fountain pours out into the trough below.
Another style of wall decorative fountain has the face of the sun as the background, and the water flows out of the sun’s mouth into the water trough below. A stone wall fountain has a series of bowls down the face of the fountain so that the first bowl holds the water and it flows through three holes into the second bowl which is larger. From that bowl, the water flows through four holes into the final trough at the bottom of the fountain, thus creating a mini waterfall effect in the wall fountain.

Some Tips for Choosing a Solar Garden Fountain
May 6th
Should you purchase a solar fountain or a wired fountain? They each have their advantages and disadvantages but we have found that solar powered fountains are safer with children and animals and easier to maintain than wired fountains although they do have the drawback of working poorly in the winter months. The panels on solar fountains use photovoltaic cells to collect the sun’s energy throughout the day to operate the pump. Since they need sunshine the pump will reduce speed and the water will cease through the night or if the sky is overcast.
Installing a Solar Garden Fountain
Solar fountains are easy to set up and the majority will need no difficult installation. Solar fountains may either have panels in the pedestal or separate panels that can be positioned at a distance. This enables the fountain to be placed in a shady spot while the panels are sited where they can gather the sunlight. The separate panels can be sited on a hard surface, mounted on a tree or wall or on a wooden stake planted firmly in the ground.
Storing Energy
Most solar panels are not capable of storing power so they cannot be used by night. They will operate most efficiently on sunlit days and on overcast days they may only pump water slowly or not at all. During the winter it is advisable to disconnect the panels as during very cold or sub-zero weather the pump may work intermittently if it is sunny and some damage could happen. A few solar fountains may have battery backups to make up for short periods but the majority are really only intended to be operated on sunny days.
Ease of Use
Solar garden fountains are convenient as they necessitate no wires from the mains and can be positioned a long way from the home. With remote panels they could even be placed in in the shade or in gazebos.
Solar Fountains for Ponds
Additionally many solar fountains are specially made for fish ponds and are also convenient as they don’t need power cords from the mains supply. They can be set to float on the water or set them in position with rocks or fixed to secure them.
Solar Garden Fountain Safety
Solar fountains are environmentally friendly without poisonous emissions, no noise and no materials that could escape and be a hazard. As there aren’t any wires they are safe for pets and the family.
Conclusion
Fountains powered by sunlight are cheap to run, very easy to take care of and safer than wired fountains. Even though they have the drawback of functioning poorly through the winter months they would be, however, excellent additions to your garden.
