Three Tips For Growing Green Grass
Each year lots of people look to their back yards and begin the process of planting grass seed in hope of having a green yard before too long. Whether you are beginning a new area of grass or just patching some bare spots in an existing yard there are some ways to assure that your grass will grow. It doesn’t require much skill to grow a green lawn but it does take a good bit of patience for your lawn to reach its full maturity. Below are some tips for growing a green lawn:
Lots of Water: The main thing to do when you start growing your lawn is that it will need a lot of water. You will definitely need a long hose and a sprinkler or sprayer. If it doesn’t rain each day you will need to give your lawn at least 10 to 25 minutes of sprinkling.
Do Not Walk On It: Other than not watering your grass, crushing on newly planted grass is an almost certain way to kill your efforts. New grass seed must be left untouched and not trampled on while it is starting to sprout. Many people rope off an area around where they are growing grass in an effort to prevent the new grass seed from being trampled by careless people and animals.
Mow Your Lawn Sparingly: Grass needs an opportunity to grow tall and healthy before you cut it down. While cutting your grass does make it look neater, it’s important to remember that you need to let your grass become healthy before you cut it for the first time. Many people know that when you do mow your grass you should use a higher setting on your lawn mower so that your grass can become thick and green. Sometimes your lawn grow too much and in those situations you should learn how to cut high grass.
To have a healthy lawn you only need to spend two to three hours a week watering and mowing it. The first time you try to grow grass you might need to invest in some affordable gardening tools such as the best mower you can afford. It is easy to grow the yard of your dreams if you are willing to put in a little time and effort each week.
