Outdoor patio benches will go with almost any patio design and are necessary for creating that additional seating most are certain to need.

There are many styles and designs of benches available made from a variety of materials. No matter where you live there are outdoor benches made to specifically for your area, some of wood, metal, resin or concrete.

Outdoor benches constructed of wood with iron arm rests and legs are a very nice patio decorating layout. They are not quite as easy on the tush as a cushioned patio chair but they will add that needed seating space when more guests arrive. Before spending money on any type of patio furniture of outdoor benches, you should sit on them in the showroom to see if they will be comfortable. Wicker and resin materials are also popular when making cheap benches, with some of them actually more comfortable that some of the more expensive ones.

Outoor benches can blend in with the patio idea layout and always be available when built into a retaining wall or deck. A bench not only provides extra seating it can also be a barrier to a child on the patio or show off a prize potted azalea. Whether the patio furniture is metal, wood, or resin it will have to be cleaned, sealed or otherwise cared for.

Consider Concrete, Wood or Resin

While outdoor benches made of cement may seem to last longer, they can be cold to sit on, depending on the temperature, and if left in direct sunlight will absorb the heat and hold it longer than most other materials will, making them uncomfortable during weather shifts. Concrete may also begin to degrade after several freeze-thaw cycles and due to their weight will probably remain outdoors through every season.

Some outdoor benches built out of wood, are designed to accommodate the natural shape of the body and therefore provide maximum comfort. From time to time a fresh coat of clear stain to protect it from harsh weather should be done to keep it looking like new. They can be carefully taken apart for repairs when necessary.

Outdoor benches made of resin can now be found in many color choices and styles. However, the problem with most resin products is when they get too cold they can easily chip or crack if bumped. Additionally, if they are left in extremely hot sun they can be warped by using them as a bench.
